Since these photos are old and have more sentimental meaning, we must protect them from mildew and mold.

Molds and mildew love to dwell on paper especially when they are stored in a damp and dark location. So before you lose that certain memory, save your pictures from the damaged it might have from molds.

Here’s how….

GEAR UP| Don your safety gear such as rubber gloves, eye protection, and a mask or respirator. Change clothes after cleaning the photos to avoid contamination.

QUARANTINE THE PHOTOS| Separate the photos with mildew from the clean ones. If you’re not sure with a photo, isolate them as well. Most mildew look grey or black or has some discoloration on photos.

FREEZE THEM| Place the infected photos in a zippered plastic bag and put it inside a freezer for about an hour. Freezing the photos will put the molds in a dormant state. This will allow you to brush them away easily.

TAKE THEM OUTSIDE| Take the sealed bag outside. Remove the photos from them and use a soft cloth to brush the mold. Avoid brushing too much removing the color pigments of the photo. You will know if the mold is already dormant if it brushes away like powder.

USE THE SUNLIGHT| If photos still have mildew which is not dormant, place them in the sunlight for not longer than an hour. Although sunlight can fade your photos, mildew will surely become inactive so you can brush them away.

MAKE A COPY OF THE PHOTO| If mold and mildew reappear on the affected photos, it may be because they have been deeply ingrained into the photo. Copy the photo and destroy the original ones. You may ask a photo shop service to assist you with this.

Another alternative is the tea tree oil. It is considered to be the most effective method especially with molds on rug and shower curtain. It is more expensive than our first alternative, but a few drops will get rid of many molds. Its smell easily dissipates. It is also safe for people and pets.

The solution can be made with 1:1 cup ratio with water. It is sure to kill all types of mold. There is no need to rinse the affected area after spraying.

With clean water, wash the shower. Do not let it dry with air. Use a dry rag and wiped it.

In order to prevent further breeding, spray white vinegar. The acid content will exterminate the mold spores which were left around the surface. It will also put off the chances of breeding.

Now that you know how to get rid of it, you may start checking your bathroom and clean it. Remember that it is significant to keep your family members healthy through cleanliness.

Those which form on the wood generally just grow on the surface. The surface mold can be killed and you could just clean the wood so you can still use it. But if molds get deeper, go remove the wood and replace it with a new one.

When wiping off the surface one, never do it while it is dry. You will just send its spore airborne, and create a risk of populating on another surface. And of course never do it with your bare hands and without a safety gear on. Once you’re geared with a safety suit, spray the affected area with alight mist of water.

On a bucket, create a solution with 20 parts warm water, 10 parts bleach, and 1 part detergent. With a scrub brush, wash down the pre-dampened wood.

But make sure that there is enough circulation for the wood to dry quickly and completely.

Still, the best way to get rid of such is avoiding their growth.

Keep an eye on your foundation, be certain that there aren’t any fractures anyplace, in case you’ll find any seal them. Another area to be careful of water damage is windows, if your windows haven’t been upgraded make sure they are sealed thoroughly and so they don’t let any water in.

I now know a lot more about water damage and mold than I knew before, something which will come in useful in the longer term. The experience was certainly one to be learned from, I just wish we had discovered it sooner and prevented all of the foundation damage.

For some people, weekends are a time to relax and enjoy the company of close friends, but for most home-owners weekends are for fixing up your place and starting D.I.Y. projects that appear almost endless. If you’re a home owner, chances are you might have tried being handy so that you can avoid the cost of paying an expert the exorbitant fees they demand. But to take on even the smallest of jobs on your own may appear mind-boggling, so below is a list of some tips I commonly do when plunging into a new challenge.

Plan:
You will find it useful to write all of the ideas or thoughts on how you want the project to develop, start by finding inspiration if it’s a design job, take snap shots, take a look at decorating web sites, mags, ask your friends. If it’s much harder than just painting a wall and you will have to do some electrical work or plumbing related work and you will be at ease executing it yourself, then you’ll definitely must make sure you’ve all of the tools necessary and that you know exactly what you are doing, because if you screw up you’ll probably be in a lot of danger and it might cost you more to hire a professional down the road to clean up after you. I’ve found an itemized list of equipment to be utilized, will come in very handy no matter the seriousness of the job. You might also want to make a list of worst-case-scenarios, just so you are prepared. So here it is: having everything required for your project handy, knowing the way you want the project to develop and being aware what you would like as the final result precisely what you actuallywish to achieve with all the planning.

Safety Issues:
Good judgment is a big one here, you need to know how to utilize the equipment properly and ensure the location you’ll be getting work done in is cleared to make sure you don’t trip over something. Shut off the water supply in case you are doing improvements to plumbing and shut down the electricity if the work involves touching wires. Dress suitably to do the job and definitely wear footwear that are comfortable with no open toes. In case you have small children make sure they are out of the way, so you don’t bump them over or even worse, same applies to pets. And have your first aid kit handy in the instance of a crisis.

Happy D.I.Ying!

Should you be renovating your cellar and you have not a clue how to handle the vents as soon as you remove the ceiling panels, it will be a smart idea to hire a specialist to sort the whole thing out. In case you are changing the floor in your own family room and you’ve got not a clue of just what a hammer looks like, I would say it’s a great idea to get a specialist. One must always measure the time you’ll be spending on the project, if it’s something you’ll require a saturday and sunday to accomplish then I’d say go on and do it yourself. Alternatively, if it’s a project which demands extensive planning and illustrating out blueprints and changes, you might not wish to invest your breaks for the remainder of your existence to make your place beautiful.

Any time you rely on someone else you usually run the risk of being overcharged, especially with something such as re-decorating or remodeling. You’ll have to shop around a lot to find a very good value and even after you find someone, the wait may well be a lengthy one. One of the advantages you’ll have when getting a expert decorator at your residence would be that the decorator can look at the house as being a fresh slate. He/She hasn’t been looking at the same layout the past Two decades or so, to enable them to also come in having a clear mind as to what will work for the house. A professional designer also has (ideally) years of expertise in decorating paying attention to the owner’s style and the house’s architectural crutches. Chances are you are probably not living in your dream house, layout wise, so a professional designer can help you overcome those crummy old cabinets. The designer can help handle the room in a way you would never have thought, a specialized designer provides you with several refreshing recommendations.

It would be nice to hire an expert decorator in case you have no time, however, if you’re tight on spending budget you should consider asking you close friends to be honest with you and get them to tell you what they really think of your place. With so many websites, there’s very little need to seek specialized advice. There are actually YouTube video clips for pretty much everything, and websites by the bucket load to help you complement material designs. When you dedicate a weekend break or two for the venture and you also recruit several friends to help you out (with the promise of beer) you can do it. And also you can make it so much fun.

There are a variety of other aspects of real wood kitchen cabinets.

 1. Natural wood cabinets compliment any kitchen style. You’ll notice certain practices with regard to the woods and finishes frequently used in different kitchen models, plus traditions about cabinet door types. As an example, a darker timber like ebony, mahogany or cherry is most appropriate in a conventional, country or eclectic style kitchen. It would rarely be utilized in contemporary styles.

 2. Wood cabinets are sturdy and hard-wearing. Wood base cabinets will very easily support any specific counter top material, including stone (granite, slate, marble, or concrete), and they hold up well under substantial use, in addition to steam and heat. Most little dings, nicks or scuff marks can be simply fixed. As time goes by, wood should be re-finished, repaired, cleaned as well as, painted or stained.

 3. Wood cabinets are clearly considerably better than any material that’s MDF or veneered. Cabinets that are created using glue must be thoroughly maintained considering that the glue is going to be ruined by the moisture after some time and the laminate or veneer begins to curl or peel. Real wood does not curl or peel.

 4. Solid wood kitchen cabinets can be obtained from a wide selection of wood options and stains, allowing a homeowner to purchase the color and wood that best match the design and décor of their home. Many woods can be finished in several ways to produce a particular patina.

 5. Wood cabinets are safe. Unlike metal cabinets, you’ll find nothing is in wood cabinets which could chemically affect the food kept in them.

 6. Wood kitchen cabinets can never go out of style. Hence their beauty and warmth boost the look and value of a residence when it’s time to market it.

Being familiar with these points, you now have a better understanding concerning why people desire wood kitchen cabinets instead of any other style.
